Well! Where to begin? The four year wait has been truly worthwhile!
Last week we had the occasion to mark my **th birthday and what better way to do this than a family ticket to the cinema. The date has been in the diary since we found out that my all-encompassing special-agent hero would be back on the big screen at the end of October, and never has a film been more eagerly anticipated.
Not for me the buckets of popcorn or gallons of fizz; who needs added excitement when a 2.5 hour visual feast of James Bond himself is there in surround-sound? The comfort of knowing that Mr Craig will live to see another day did nothing to prevent anxiety that he should come to harm during the obligatory car chase, (and for good measure bikes and trains added too), nor the surety that bullets will fly past him... they didn't you see, and for a few minutes it was a close-run thing, Chubby B must have been turning in his grave.
Hints of Bourne and Batman as well as Bond brought this story to life for me; but I'm not trying to be the film critic I'm not, simply heralding the return of the pouting blue-eyed wonder that is Daniel C; the brilliance of Javier; a return to barren Scottish lands with the classic line, "Welcome to Scotland;" Dame Judi's departure from her role as the mid of the alphabet, who could fail to be moved
A friend of one of the offspring had the temerity to suggest that he felt this wasn't a classic film. He was summarily evicted from the kitchen and will only be allowed back to the Celestial Swamp once he has had time to think about the error of his ways and adjust his evaluation of this wonderful romp through MI5's derring-do.
I was given a tea-towel soon after the opening of Casino Royale. It reads: Last Night I Had A Really Nice Dream About Daniel Craig. You can see where my loyalties lie. I'm just wondering how long I can leave it until I go and watch the film again before whispers along the usual line of, 'Mum's lost it' resume. Not sure I care, better go along tomorrow in case I missed anything the first time!
Gorgeous DC the film was sooo good !
